Testing out the S1H firmware 2.2 with improved autofocus on some rather fast moving rodents. Autofocus mode is set to ‘1-Area’ (default size) with human/animal detection activated. This firmware version is vastly superior to the previous versions where the autofocus was far too slow to refocus, if not completely refusing to focus at all! I would need to do more testing with the other modes to make sure of its reliability, though I’m still more preferable to manual focusing.
Lens used: Lumix S 24-105mm f/4 (autofocus only). Minimum focusing distance is 10cm – the squirrels would sometimes come too close and even touch the lens (leaving a dirty nose print!).
